The Kawartha Oral History Project
The Kawartha Oral History Project is dedicated to recording and sharing the region’s living history. Founded in the summer of 2007 in association with the Fenelon Museum, its volunteers meet and share memories with area residents with similar interests in local history, particularly pre-1950. It strives to preserve memories for future generations, and works with participants to create displays incorporating their contributions to the history of the area.
Our volunteers try to keep meetings informal and we are interested in hearing your recollections of the region and its inhabitants. We want to help you preserve family photographs; images of your farm, business or cottage; Family Bibles; and family trees. While we work to ensure that this valuable information is available for future generations, we do not solicit donations of family heirlooms. We also offer some assistance with genealogical research.
Have something to share? Contact the Kawartha Oral History Project, drop by the Museum, or call 887-1044.
