Kawartha Heritage
Interested in local history? Want to teach other to appreciate it as much? Looking for an opportunity to meet other to share your passion? Do you have ideas for history-related events in your community? Then you are probably a natural for Kawartha Heritage.
Kawartha Heritage is a group of people interested in the history of the Kawarthas. The organization was founded in June 2008 as Friends of Fenelon Museum to provide opportunities for area residents to take part in promoting, sharing and learning about the history of their region. While regular meetings are held to plan events, meetings and community activities, Kawartha Heritage's primary aim is to introduce members to others who similarly value their community and provide opportunities to bring the region’s past to life in less formal contexts.
Kawartha Heritage encourages members to bring new dimensions to programming and restoration of Maryboro Lodge - The Fenelon Falls Museum and provides the support necessary to make these ideas a reality, but that's only one aspect of Kawartha Heritage: old automobiles, family history, sharing old farm stories, remembering the village in days gone by, cataloguing old trees, cemetery maintenance, historic photograph competitions at the Fenelon Fair - Kawartha Heritage has a place for almost anything. Come, share what the area means to you.
